Lioni Latticini Cheese Enters Retail Market

BROOKLYN, N.Y.-Lioni Latticini Inc., one of the largest suppliers of mozzarella in the foodservice industry, will penetrate supermarkets and specialty stores nationwide by July 1.

"For the past 15 years, Lioni Latticini has solely pursued foodservice business with hotels, restaurants and delis", says Jeff Silver, marketing dir.

This spring, Lioni Latticini opened a new manufacturing and packaging facility in Linden, N.J. The 40,000-sq-ft plant contains packaging machinery from Italy to wrap the different varieties of specialty mozzarella, including its most popular Italian import, Mozzarella di Bufala. The company is also starting a new mail order business and getting its own Website offering gift baskets.
